„I decided to slow the original down a considerable amount“ – Yarni’s version of „Virtuous Pursuit“
trndmsk: What inspired you to make the remix?
Yarni: When I heard the original vocal samples I needed to get a hold of them, slow them down and work them into the Yarni sound.
How did you approach the original track?
I decided to slow the original down a considerable amount and work out how to respect the atmospheric sound Nie Wieder Schlafen love to push. You can hear me playing the drums which were the core of the track and everything just came naturally once the groove was set.
Where and how did you produce it?
I have a studio in the city centre of my home town of Sheffield. All the recording and mixing takes place there. I re-sampled the original vocals and recorded live drums over the top. I then selected the best stems from the original and laid down some extra elements with my analogue synths to give it the Yarni touch.
How did you get in contact with the record label?
Trustless (Nie Wieder Schlafen boss) is a friend and we regularly are in touch and sharing our findings. He sent me the promo for my radio shows and sets.
Who asked you for the remix?
What’s up next after the release? Are you working on other projects?
I’m currently staring at the final artwork for my Oleeva Records EP „Hear No, See No, Speak No“. It’s very important as it is a document of me coming to terms with a few mental health issues and most importantly attempting to combat them. Aside from this I have another EP due for Exploited Records with Javier Orduna and I’m mixing a track with Russian singer Alexandra Pride for a new Amselcom sub-label. Very exciting times ahead!
